Ygritte
[Personality Overview]
As a spearwife, Ygritte is a warrior first and has lived her whole life with one sole objective in mind: to survive by any means necessary. Essentially, it is a task that has her fighting a constant battle with the harsh conditions in which she lives and other threats, but the greatest one being the Others. It has made her a strong, albeit hardened woman; courageous and as resolute as any man she fights alongside. Most of whom she has earned (and maintained) a certain level of respect from the men within her wildling clan. That said, it definitely goes without saying that Ygritte prides herself on being able to do anything those men can do, and will even confidently boast that she can do it better because she’s a woman.
Yes, that definitely means she’s a proud, independent one and Ygritte is not afraid to say so and in the most blunt way possible. She’s brutally honest, oftentimes in vulgar and crass ways, which leaves people sometimes speechless and uncomfortable. She also has little to no filters, saying and acting the way she wants to without any shame, or reservation. She doesn't complain either and takes on a 'it is what it is' kind of mentality.
However, Ygritte is not without her flaws either. Having spent so much time around men, there’s a need to keep herself distant and guarded where emotions are concerned. Emotions lead to being vulnerable and being vulnerable leaves one susceptible to weakness. Anything that she anticipates making her feel that specific way is dealt with head on in a very cold manner and a fiery temper. She's not beyond revenge.
It’s only when she thinks no one is looking that she allows herself to react emotionally, which is how she dealt with Jon’s betrayal and which also led to the hesitation in killing him at the Battle of Castle Black. It was the precise moment that led to her death, in the end.
